On 26 October the Government will implement significant changes to legislation surrounding work related sexual harassment, whilst in parallel, the Equality and Human Rights Commission has updated its technical guidance on the issue. It is vital that businesses have measures in place not only to comply with the changes but to protect their staff and their reputations.

These changes to the Equality Act 2010 place a new duty on employers to take “reasonable steps” to prevent the sexual harassment of their employees in the course of their employment.

Contravention of this duty may have far reaching consequences for businesses, who will want to adapt their current practices and policies to comply with the new legislation.
