Our vacation scheme
Come and spend your holidays with us and discover what it’s like to work at an energetic, dynamic and growing law firm. You’ll get support to develop your skills and knowledge from top lawyers and trainees. And we’ll get to know you better.
Learn about the structure of our work, opportunities available and the real-life legal cases we deal with day to day. Get a feel for our culture and see if it’s right for you.
What can you expect?
Our placements are two weeks long. You’ll get the chance to work on live cases and see the day-to-day running of our firm. We’ll give you your own seat in one of the following teams. Just let us know your preference and we’ll do our best to place you there.
– Commercial Disputes
– Corporate & Commercial
– Real Estate
– Employment & Immigration
You’ll be assigned a current trainee ‘buddy’ and a supervisor. You’ll be invited to workshops, group activities, presentations and networking events, all giving you the chance to meet colleagues across the firm at all levels.
What happens next?
Our Resourcing Manager assesses applications to our vacation scheme. If you’re shortlisted, we’ll organise a phone interview with you. If you’re selected, we’ll invite you to our assessment centre in the spring for a day-long event. You’ll get to meet our current trainees and ask them about their experiences with us.
As part of the assessment, we’ll observe how you present yourself, how you respond to questions and situations, and how you put an argument together. We’re keen to see you use your initiative, act in a collaborative way, communicate effectively and demonstrate that you possess the skills and ambitions we are looking for.
Who can apply?
If you have completed or are in the process of completing an undergraduate degree in any discipline, you can apply. You’ll need to have completed your second year at university to be eligible.
Hear from our 2024 cohort
As our Vacation Scheme for 2024 comes to an end, we met with this year’s cohort to hear about their time at Capital.
The students have been sitting in on client meetings, taking on everyday tasks, and meeting with colleagues from Trainee Solicitors right up to Partner level.
Joining us at our newly renovated Cardiff HQ, it’s clear from their interview clips that Cegin has definitely been a highlight.
