As Capital grows, so does the amount of international work we do. Over the past few years, our French-related work has increased most drastically. We work with many French companies and law firms, and Céline Jones – who leads our French desk – is the Honorary Consul of France for Wales.
We regularly advise businesses on corporate transactions, commercial issues and litigation involving France and the UK. We have worked in key trade sectors between the two countries, such as transport, medical and pharmaceutical, education, automotive, electronics, and food and drink.
Having a base in Paris, where we can easily meet our French and European clients and partners whenever they need us to, reflects our commitment to reinforcing these international connections.
We celebrated with a reception at the British Ambassador’s residence in Paris on 21 October, in the company of the Minister and Deputy Head of Mission at the British Embassy, Theo Rycroft.
The event brought together a diverse crowd: friends and clients, lawyers and businesspeople, fellow members of the Wales France Business Forum (co-founded by Céline Jones), government officials and diplomats. Welsh-Scottish and Francophile poet, Archippus Sturrock, treated us to a recital of a poem he’d written especially for the occasion, “Night-Time Flâneur”. It was a real honour.
All were united by the desire to reinforce Franco-Welsh links, and to build new mutually beneficial relationships.
The next day, our colleagues Chris Nott, Carrie Gwyther and Simon Williams attended Consulegis’ first in-person conference in nearly two years – also held in Paris. Consulegis is an international network of law firms, that works in more than 45 countries and 150 cities globally.
As one of the founding members, we were pleased to catch up with lawyers from firms based around Europe – sharing best practice on handling cross-border cases and insight on how the pandemic has impacted our profession and clients.
Whether you need advice on a cross-jurisdictional transaction or dispute, with managing your employees overseas, are looking to buy a property or set up an office in another country, or trade across the globe, we can help.
