Advising Freight Logistics Solutions and its shareholders on £2.2m investment from the Development Bank of Wales

The Development Bank of Wales has made a strategic £2.2m investment in Freight Logistics Solutions (FLS), to further the development of FLS’ technology and operational infrastructure.

Laura Spendiff and Cath Golledge, from Capital Law’s corporate team, advised FLS and its shareholders on the deal.

From its base in Pontypool, FLS offers commercial transport logistics services and supply chain management throughout the UK and Europe. It has access to over 50,000 vehicles in these regions, thanks to an extensive subcontractor network of haulage firms.

The business optimises its customers’ logistics operations and transport spend using a suite of tracking and KPI reporting measures. This offers increasingly attractive options for manufacturers and shippers: international customs; rapid response times; cost savings; guaranteed service levels; greater logistics flexibility; increased visibility over logistics spend/efficiency; and better data insight.

In 2020, FLS was named the Fastest Growing Company in the Cardiff Capital Region at the Fast Growth 50 Awards.

Ieuan Rosser, Managing Director at FLS, commented:

Capital Law, has been the perfect partner for FLS in this process, the in depth knowledge they build of your business is impressive meaning the advice, guidance and support the team have given has been of course absolutely on point.”

Laura Spendiff, Senior Associate at Capital Law, added:

“FLS’ focus on customer needs and digital tools is as relevant as ever. Over the few years we’ve worked with Ieuan and the team, we’ve seen this business grow exponentially, adapt to changing transport models, and go the extra mile to maintain supply chains during the pandemic. With the Development Bank of Wales’ backing, they’ll now be able to develop their unique technology even further. It’s been a pleasure acting on such an important deal.”
