Advising Howard Tenens Logistics on Planet Organic deal

Howard Tenens Logistics has sealed a deal with Planet Organic, which will see the haulier operate consolidated daily deliveries to the health food retailer’s stores from a dedicated distribution centre in Sunbury-on-Thames.

The long-term contract award and strategic partnership will replace the current system which sees Planet Organic stores receive stock from approximately 200 suppliers each week, with each supplier making individual deliveries to each store. As part of the deal, Howard Tenens will also become a Planet Organic shareholder, having committed to invest.

Capital Law advised Howard Tenens on this strategic partnership. Chris Coughlan and Kellsey Logue provided commercial law advice, while Laura Spendiff advised on the corporate elements.

Chris Coughlan, Partner at Capital Law, said:

In challenging market conditions, our longstanding client, Howard Tenens, have proven their ability to seize the right opportunities at the right time. Key to their success is their decision to focus on sustainable and profitable growth, and to develop strategic partnerships. This latest deal with Planet Organic is a perfect example of this strategy. We were pleased to help make it happen and look forward to seeing both businesses grow together.

Karl Hodgkinson, Managing Director of Howard Tenens Logistics added:

As we start this exciting partnership with Planet Organic, we’re grateful to have the Capital team by our side once again. This is a very important deal for us strategically, so having the support of experienced lawyers, who know us and understand our business, has been invaluable.
