Porter’s Cardiff secures new home

After it was announced in 2021 that Harlech Court in Cardiff was to be redeveloped, fans of the popular Porter’s Cardiff were concerned about the future of the venue. Thankfully, a new premises was found for them on Barrack Lane, and we were pleased to represent them in negotiating and agreeing the new lease.

The new premises required a lot of work before opening to the public, so not only did we need to negotiate a new lease, but also reach agreements to allow for significant works to be carried out by both Porters and the landlord, Deri Investments.

Our dedicated Owner & Occupier team, led by Partner, Hannah Vosper and supported by Solicitor, Toby Girdler, led negotiations between Porter’s and Deri Investments to agree a lease that allowed the creative freedom to develop a space that meets the standard set by the previous venue — a multi-purpose premises that operates as a bar, music venue and more. The lease is also for a twenty-year term, allowing Porter’s the security to invest in this venue for the future.

With the initial works now completed, the doors open, and a number of events already lined up, we’re excited to see this new venue in action.

Daniel Porter, Owner of Porter’s Cardiff commented:

“I really can’t fault Hannah and the team at Capital Law. They scream professionalism and have been fantastic. They approached the work in a really human manner — working with them is always a nice interaction.”
