Danielle O'Brien Associate

Danielle is an Associate in our Construction team, with a focus on non-contentious construction and energy projects.

Danielle advises mainly on JCT and NEC contracts, plus other bespoke forms of contract. She works with local authority clients, universities, funders and developers, preparing full suites of construction documents and development agreements for projects. She also advises private sector clients, contractors and sub-contractors. Danielle works closely with lender clients (Development Bank of Wales and Julian Hodge Bank Limited), running the construction due diligence element of their development finance projects.

Danielle previously worked in-house at Welsh Power Group Limited, an independent developer and asset management business (with 550MW of flexible generation to provide grid stability services). Here she reviewed O&M agreements and NEC sub-contracts, negotiated easements with electricity and gas distribution network operators and assisted with corporate due diligence for new development sites.

April 2020 – June 2023, Danielle was involved two projects with the South Wales Industrial Cluster, focusing on how to decarbonise heavy industry in South Wales. She aided the formation of the Cluster, negotiating the collaboration agreement between all the parties, and has been key to its success. She took an active role in the project’s Future Leaders Group and subsequently in the setup of Net Zero Industry Wales (funded by Welsh Government).
